Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil was definitely one of the highlights on the party. It’s got a pretty awesome plot and it’s super hilarious. This movie was another import, but I’m pretty sure that it comes out in the next few months in the States here. We couldn’t wait that long though, had to have it for the party! I’d say that this movie is a must see.
Phenomena 1985
Halloween Horror Marathon #04
We had some cool movies that were imported from the UK at the marathon, Phenomena being one of them. The Blu-ray is so beautiful, it’s like watching the movie for the first time. This is a Dario Argento film, he’s made some pretty sweet movies and they’re worth checking out. Phenomena has some particularly sweet jam sessions throughout the movie.
Cannibal Holocaust 1980

Cannibal Holocaust is probably the most controversial films of all time. The director was arrested after the film was finished and released. The film itself was banned in tons of different countries. We got an imported Blu-Ray of the uncut version. It was easily the most disturbing of the films we watched, which is saying something. I don’t blame people for not wanting to watch it at all, so we watched this one when there weren’t too many people left watching. There’s a lot of real stuff in this movie and other things that are questionable, which is why the director was arrested. He was never charged in the end but you still never know exactly what really happened. There are apparently quite a few different versions of the film around and I’m not exactly sure of all the differences. This one is pretty crazy and I can’t say that I’d really recommend it based on how graphic and insane it is. I thought it was worth seeing, so if you can find it and it sounds like your kind of movie, then go for it. I’d recommend doing a little research into what it’s all about before you do though.
Martyrs 2008

Martyrs here was one of the more disturbing films we watched at the party. It was still a cool movie though and a good one. I will just say that it’s probably not for the faint of heart.
We Are the Night 2011

We Are the Night is a pretty cool vampire movie about a group of female vampires, we all really liked it. It has some pretty neat stuff in it. The trailer here is dubbed, the actual movie is in German. It’s still a good trailer either way.
SHEITAN 2006

Sheitan here is actually on Netflix instant streaming. It’s like a movie showcase of how creepily awesome Vincent Cassel can be. So if you like Vincent Cassel you should check it out for sure, and even if you don’t, it’s still a fun and creepy movie to watch.
Over this past weekend we had a Halloween movie marathon. About 16 people came throughout the first night. The whole deal last around 50 hours of horror movie watching straight. A small group stayed almost the entire time. By the end about 23 movies had been watched. I won’t be going through them all, but we have some special highlights at the marathon that i’m going to share in these upcoming posts here. I will list off the movies we watched just in case you want to check them out for yourself at some point. Some of them are on Netflix instant streaming if you want to watch them there.

Back to Coen with The Hudsucker Proxy. Not the best Coen bros film, but it’s still a good movie with some sweet laughs. We still had a good time watching this one though.
THE USUAL SUSPECTS 1995

An intermission from the Coen’s films to watch a great mystery/crime movie with a pretty crazy ending. I won’t say much more about it for those of you who haven’t seen it. Sweet movie.
BLOOD SIMPLE 1984

And the Coen bros continue a week later. Their first film Blood Simple on Blu-ray. A neat movie with some sweet visuals, we enjoyed this movie quite a bit.

THE BIG LEBOWSKI 1998

The Big Lebowski was our second choice for a Coen bros film. Awesome beyond words and if you haven’t seen it you have to. In honor of The Dude we drank his drink of choice (White Russian, for those of you who don’t know) during the film.
RAISING ARIZONA 1987

It was a Coen bros week in the club. Raising Arizona was first on the list for the night. Seeing it on Blu-ray was a whole new experience. It was like watching a different movie from the dvd version. This one was fun.
